The Office of the Head of Service of the Federation Releases measures to Curtail the Leakages of Official Sensitive Information/ Documents in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, stated in a circular posted on the website of the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation on February 19, 2024, that the leaks of such documents have become embarrassing to the government and thus unacceptable.

As part of the measures in curtailing suck leakages, Permanent Secretaries were advised to strongly warn all staff against leaking and circulating official information and documents.

In addition, the circular stated that, “Any officer caught engaging in such unbecoming act will be severely dealt with in line with the relevant provisions of the Public Service Rules and other extant circulars.”


The circular is said to reinforce the circular on
“Unauthorized Circulation of Official Documents/Information On Social Media” Ref. No. HCSF/3065/Vol. 1/94, dated 2nd August, 2021; and other regulations prohibiting unauthorized disclosure/leakage of official documents.

Finally, it mandated Permanent Secretaries to ensure strict compliance with the contents of this circular and draw the attention of the Heads of the agencies under their supervision to same.
