The Nigeria’s Whistleblowing Policy: Incentives and Disincentives.

In the fight against corruption, the Nigerian government has adopted a Whistleblowing Policy (Policy). With the aid of primary and mainly secondary sources distilled from different libraries, including e-libraries and the internet, this research explores the incentives and disincentives associated with the policy and concludes that the disincentives, which tend to outweigh the incentives, will potentially discourage potential whistleblowers.

It therefore recommends that factors that are likely disincentives to whistleblowing, and possibly a clog to achieving the goal of the policy be taken into consideration in the Whistleblowers Protection Bill which has been passed but yet to be assented to.
