The Director General of Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, hosted the Executives of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) at the Commission’s HQ in Abuja. Discussions focused on governance, strategy, and potential collaborations.

“On Thursday, May 16, 2024, in Abuja, the Energy Sectoral Group of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) facilitated a visit of the Institute to the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi CEng MIMechE. The ICSAN team was led by Honorary Treasurer Mr. Francis Olawale, FCIS

This initiative of the Energy Sectoral Group was geared at coalescing areas of support following the unveiling of the National Energy Policy (NEP) and National Energy Master Plan (NEMP)- representing the development strategy roadmap for Nigeria’s Energy Sector.

The ICSAN team engaged the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria and his Executive team on exploring potential areas of collaboration and partnership.

Mr. Francis Olawale, FCIS, representing the President and Chairman in Council of ICSAN, Mrs. Funmi Ekundayo. FCIS, highlighted the Institute’s focus on enhancing human capital development in governance and public administration. He said the Institute could support in the areas policy scrutiny and advocacy.

Mrs. Marilyn Eze, Chairperson of ICSAN’s Energy Sector Group emphasised the importance of the unveiled strategy documents noting that the gazette documents provides an action plan that cuts across Petroleum, Coal & Tar Sands, Nuclear, Renewables (Hydropower, Solar, Wind, Hydrogen), Bio-Energy and Electricity.

Dr. Abdullahi expressed his willingness to collaborate with ICSAN and other organizations to support the Commission’s mandate. He assured the ICSAN team that he would explore areas of mutual benefit for both entities.

This visit marks a significant step towards fostering a productive partnership between ICSAN and the Energy Commission of Nigeria.”
