Options opened to an accused after the charge has been read and explained

The accused may raise a preliminary objection as to the jurisdiction of the court or to a defect in the charge sheet. Other options are refuse to plead, stand mute, plead guilty, plead guilty with reasons, plead not guilty, plead guilty by reason of insanity, plead for pardon, or plead autrefois convict or acquit where necessary.
