NBA Maiduguri Monitoring Team Report on #EndBadGovernance Protesters Trial

In compliance with the directives of the NBA President Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, for NBA Branches to actively monitor the trials of #EndBadGovernance protesters, the NBA Maiduguri Monitoring Team attended the proceedings at Chief Magistrate Court 1, Maiduguri on Friday, 6th September 2024. The trial involved 74 Defendants who were arrested during the protests against bad governance.

During the session, the Court granted bail to all the Defendants in the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira or two sureties in the like sum each. Granting the bail reflects a certain level of recognition of the Defendants’ rights to liberty pending the outcome of the trial.

Furthermore, the case has been adjourned to the 9th of September 2024 for a subsequent hearing. The NBA Maiduguri Monitoring Team will continue to closely follow the proceedings to ensure that the rights and interests of all parties involved are upheld in accordance with the principles of justice.
