LESSONS FROM THE LEPER

“And there came a leper to him, beseeching him and kneeling down to him and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean”.

  • Mark 1:40

Lessons from the leper:

  1. WHERE/WHO HE WENT TO
The leper “came to Jesus”. The leper knew where to go and who to meet. He went to HIM (Jesus)
    Beseeching HIM
    Kneeling down to HIM
    And saying unto HIM.

The leper’s focus was JESUS and JESUS alone.

  1. HOW HE CAME
He came in humility. He beseeched Jesus; he pleaded with him. And this he did kneeling down before him. His manner of approach got to Jesus.
  2. He used his MOUTH. The leper said something to Jesus. He spoke to Christ the moment he got access.
  3. WHAT HE SAID
He said to Jesus, “If you are willing, you can make me clean”. In other words, he recognized Christ’s authority to heal him.

He also recognized Christ’s sovereignty; his prerogative to heal or not to heal; to grant or refuse his request, plea, prayer or petition.

This year 2024,

  1. Do NOT go to a wrong place or to a wrong person(s) looking for help or solution to your problem. Take all your matters to Jesus and do as he bids you. If you must go to any man, let Jesus direct you.
  2. Learn humility. It will take you far and high in life.
  3. Use your mouth. And use it wisely.
ASK. Don’t die in silence or ignorance.
  4. While you ask in faith, recognize God’s sovereignty over your life and over all situations. God is NOT under obligation to grant your petition.
